What Blushly is
Blushly is a photo editor for your selfies. Filters apply film looks to a photo on your device. Trends uses AI to restyle a photo you choose, either as an effect (for example flash or golden-hour light) or as a template that places you in a new scene.
Data we collect and how we collect it
You can use Blushly without creating an email or password account. When you first open the app we create a pseudonymous account so purchases and credits can be linked to you.
- Photos you choose — the app only sees the photos you pick in the system photo picker; it does not get access to the rest of your library.
- Filters: the photo is edited entirely on your device and is never uploaded.
- Trends (AI): the photo is resized and uploaded so the AI result can be created (see “AI features and consent”).
- Face check — before a Trends request, the app checks on your device whether the photo contains a face (using Apple’s on-device Vision framework). This check never leaves your phone and no face data is stored.
- User ID — a pseudonymous account identifier created by Appwrite, used to link your purchases, credits and requests.
- Purchase information — product, subscription and credit-pack status received from Apple through RevenueCat. We do not receive your payment-card details.
- Usage records — for each AI request we record the style you chose, whether it succeeded, which credit was used, how long it took and what it cost us. These records contain no images.
- Technical request data — our servers receive your IP address when the app connects to them, as any internet service does. We do not use it to track you.
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts or location. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising or to track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not use your photos to train AI models.
Your edited photos are saved to your device (in the app’s gallery and, when you tap Save, to your photo library). They are not kept on our servers.
How we use data
We use this information only to run Blushly: to create the AI results you ask for, to give you the credits you are entitled to, to refund credits when a request fails, to verify purchases, to prevent abuse, to keep our services secure, and to reply if you contact support.
AI features and consent
The first time you use an AI feature, the app asks for your explicit permission before any photo is sent. If you decline, no photo is uploaded and Filters keep working.
When you create an AI photo:
- The photo is resized (to at most 1536 pixels on its long side) and uploaded to our storage, readable only by your account.
- Our server sends it to our AI provider together with the instructions for the style you chose. The provider generates the result.
- The result is stored in our storage, downloaded by the app to your device, and then deleted from our storage.
- Your uploaded photo is deleted as soon as the request has finished, whether it succeeded or failed.
If anything is left behind (for example because the app was closed mid-request), it is deleted automatically within 24 hours.
Who processes data
We use the following service providers only for the stated purposes:
- Appwrite (servers in the European Union) — pseudonymous accounts, temporary photo storage, credits and request processing
- Eachlabs, running OpenAI’s image models — generating the AI result from your photo and the chosen style
- Apple — App Store billing; on-device face detection runs locally and sends nothing to Apple
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase status
These providers may process data in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and the United States. We share only what is needed for the feature you use. Our agreements and the providers’ terms require your data to receive the same or an equivalent level of protection as described in this policy and required by applicable law and Apple’s App Review Guidelines.
Retention and deletion
- Uploaded photos and AI results on our servers: deleted when the request finishes (uploads) or once the app has downloaded them (results); anything left over is deleted automatically within 24 hours.
- AI provider processing: the provider processes the photo to generate the result. Under its terms it may keep request data for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) for security and abuse monitoring, and not for advertising or model training.
- Usage records (no images): kept for up to 90 days. Daily credit counters are kept for up to 7 days.
- Account, subscription status and credit-pack balance: kept while your account exists, so your credits stay available.
- Store records: Apple and RevenueCat keep transaction records under their own legal and operational requirements.
- On your device: your gallery and settings stay on your phone until you delete them or the app.
Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device. To delete the account records we hold, email blushly@thesolidblank.com from the app’s support link and we will delete them within 30 days. Active subscriptions must be cancelled separately in iOS Settings.
Photos of other people
Only use photos of yourself, or photos of other people when you have their permission. Do not upload photos of children or anyone who has not agreed.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy of your data by contacting blushly@thesolidblank.com.
If you are in the UK or EEA, you may also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority. California residents may request access or deletion; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the CCPA/CPRA.
Children
Blushly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page where appropriate.
Apple App Store
In-app purchases and subscriptions are billed by Apple. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
